Therapeutic Arts offers in-person care from offices in New York and New Jersey, along with virtual therapy for clients located in either state. The best setting depends on the client’s age, needs, comfort, therapist, and the kind of work being considered.
In-person therapy
An in-person session offers a private therapeutic setting and direct access to a wider range of art materials. For some children, teens, and adults, sharing the same physical space can make it easier to build a relationship, work with tactile materials, and shift between conversation and making. What happens in the room is still individualized. A session may include art-making, talk therapy, play, journaling, music, or other approaches—and may not include art at all.

FLEXIBLE CARE
Virtual art therapy
Virtual care is available when the client is physically located in New York or New Jersey and the service is clinically appropriate and offered by the therapist. Sessions can include conversation, art-making, journaling, or other approaches adapted to the privacy, materials, and technology available at home.
Simple materials, thoughtful support
You do not need a studio or extensive supplies. Your therapist can discuss simple materials that fit the work, and Therapeutic Arts can mail basic supplies when needed. Virtual care may not be recommended for some younger children; the consultation and assessment process can help determine whether it is a workable option.
