A LOW-PRESSURE FIRST STEP

You do not need the perfect words for the first conversation.

You do not need the perfect words for the first conversation.

If you are looking for care for your child, your teenager, or yourself, begin by sharing what you know. A free phone consultation gives you space to ask questions, describe what is happening, and discuss which therapist or setting may be a thoughtful fit.

What to share

What to share

A few practical details can help the conversation: who is seeking care and their age; the main concerns or goals; whether you prefer a New York office, a New Jersey office, or virtual care; scheduling needs; therapist preferences; and insurance or payment questions.

You do not need to provide a complete history through a website form. The consultation is a starting point, not a clinical assessment, and you can ask how sensitive information will be handled before sharing it.

What happens next

01

Consultation or direct request

Talk with a therapist, the clinical supervisor, or the clinical director about your needs and current options—or request an appointment with a therapist you have selected.

02

Intake documentation

Before the first appointment, Therapeutic Arts sends forms for you to complete.

03

Initial session and assessment

The therapist completes a clinical assessment and works with the client, and with caregivers where appropriate, to establish a treatment plan and goals.

Insurance and payment questions

Therapeutic Arts participates with Healthfirst, Aetna, and Cigna, although coverage and clinician participation can vary by plan. For out-of-network care, a superbill may support reimbursement depending on your benefits and deductible. Share your insurance information during the consultation so the practice can explain the current options.

Please do not use this form for an urgent safety concern or emergency.

Request a consultation securely

Use our secure contact form to share the details needed to begin. You’ll be directed to our client portal to submit your request.

Contact FAQs

Is the consultation free?

Yes. The consultation is a free phone conversation used to hear what brings you in, answer initial questions, and discuss placement or next steps.

Can I book directly with a therapist?

Yes. If you have selected a therapist from the website, you may request an initial appointment with that clinician. Scheduling depends on availability and fit.

What if I am not sure whether I need art therapy or talk therapy?

You do not need to decide before reaching out. Therapeutic Arts clinicians are trained in art therapy and traditional talk therapy, and sessions are shaped around the client’s needs rather than a requirement to make art.

Can you verify my insurance before I begin?

Contact the practice with your insurance information so the team can explain current network participation and billing options. Coverage, deductibles, and out-of-network reimbursement are determined by the individual plan.

What if I need immediate help?

This website and consultation request process are not emergency services. Use the practice-approved crisis and emergency instructions when they are supplied, and do not use the website form for an urgent safety concern.

A first conversation does not commit you to treatment. It gives you a clearer sense of the people, settings, and next steps available.
